COVID-19 UPDATE: Lehigh and Northampton County courts closed for non-emergency proceedings through 5/1

Following the COVID-19 outbreak, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania declared a general, statewide judicial emergency on March 18, which was extended through April 30 by an order dated April 1. To implement the Supreme Court’s order, the Courts of Common Pleas for both Northampton and Lehigh Counties subsequently issued orders that limit court operations. The Northampton County order, which was issued on April 3, and the Lehigh County Order, which was issued on April 2, postpone most non-emergency proceedings until May 1. Both orders provide for certain proceedings to continue by phone or teleconference. The full text of the orders is available here:
